Twas the Sunday Before Christmas – Start/Sit: Week 15

Follow Sam on Twitter

Twas the Sunday before Christmas, and the playoffs were here

But who was I to count on: A Cowboy or a Buccaneer?

Should I believe in Rivers, or stick with Cam vs. Houston’s D?

They’re the No. 1 defense, but he’s got a Heisman Trophy.

But what about Jacksons – Steven, DeSean, Vince?

Sure they’ve got talent, but often they make me wince;

Must stick with Helu, but Felix should start;

I have Vick and Tebow, and we know who has more heart.

Your start and sit questions, answers are near

So by Monday Night Football you’ll relax with a beer.

Twas the Sunday before Christmas and my lineup was set,

Sam is here with his advice; there’s no need to fret.

Start ‘Em:

Oh Beanie Wells, your consistency is rare

One 100-yard game in your last nine, but the talent is there.

Tis the holiday season; this the time to come through;

So this week I’m counting on you for a touchdown or two.

Last week you rushed for a measly 27 yards

But I understand the 49ers D can be very hard.

The Browns defense is allowing 151 yards rushing per game,

A touchdown surrendered in eight of their last nine; in Week 15 expect the same.

The 49ers D, though stellar against the run

Has proven to be vulnerable to quarterbacks who their wideouts with their gun.

Of the 14 touchdowns their secondary has allowed, seven were more than 20 yards

Larry Fitzgerald and Miles Austin twice, Hakeen Nicks, Doug Baldwin and Early Doucet left their secondary scarred.

It’s quite apropos then, Pittsburgh’s on their way

The Steelers this season have 49 (T-9th) 20-plus-yard plays.

Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown average 17 yards per catch

They account for 31 of those big Steelers plays; what a mismatch.

What a season it’s been for the Packers tight end

It’s up and it’s down then it’s up yet again.

Three Jermichael Finley’s touchdowns came in Week 3,

Had six catches for 87 yards vs. the Giants then against Oakland was nowhere to be seen.

But the Packers are without Greg Jennings who has thrived in the slot,

Someone else must step up to catch passes in the middle of the field; give Finley a shot!

The Chiefs have given up the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends

Look for Aaron Rodgers to find Finley and continue this trend.

Others players I like:

  • Cedric Benson
  • Steven Jackson
  • Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas
  • Brandon Lloyd
  • Plaxico Burress
  • Marques Colston, Lance Moore
  • LeGarrette Blount
  • Kevin Smith
  • Michael Bush

Sit ‘Em:

Let’s talk about Felix Jones, the Cowboys new starting running back

But don’t let last Sunday confuse how you act.

Twas not long ago, Jones handled the bulk of the carries

He scored just once in five games – start in the playoffs? That’s very scary.

Sure, the Bucs provide a very enticing matchup

Felix Jones topped 100 yards against the Giants, but he cannot be trusted as a starter in the playoffs.

A rush defense ranked dead last in the league; Jones’ stock must going up.

But indeed, be cautious if you start ‘em

The Boys tend to lean on the pass and forget all about him.

It’s been quite the road for our friend Philip Rivers

A terrible start, but in the last two weeks he’s surely delivered.

Six touchdown passes in against the Jags and the Bills,

But this week he’ll face the Ravens; he’s getting the chills.

The Baltimore D, the best around town

Nine pass touchdowns surrendered – by far the best around.

The Jags were playing third-stringers, the Bills weren’t right

Ed Reed and the secondary will torture the Bolts, especially in primetime.

Other players I don’t like:

  • Jermaine Gresham
  • DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart
  • Ryan Mathews
  • Michael Vick
  • Michael Crabtree
  • Carson Palmer
