Adrian Peterson plans on running later this month

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is working on repairing a torn ACL that he suffered late in the 2011 NFL season.

Peterson is working hard to return to the field in 2012.

The 26-year-old running back says he’s making significant progress after having surgery on December 30. He also said he expects to start running on February 28.

I’m definitely making improvement. I’m starting to get my muscle tone and strength back into the legs,” Peterson told Paul Allen on KFAN, via Scout.com. “I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far. I’m extremely happy.”

While Peterson says that he is working hard, he added that he doesn’t want to work too hard and risk a setback. He’s been working with his physical therapist in Houston.

“He’s making sure I’m doing the right things. It feels strong, but he doesn’t want me to push it too much,” Peterson said.

This is a tough injury to come back from, especially for a running back, but Peterson is a tough player. We hope to see Peterson back on the field in 2012, he’s great for the NFL and for football.
