Giants defeat Patriots 21-17 to win Super Bowl XLVI

In a game that came down to the very final seconds, the New York Giants persevered and defeated the New England Patriots.

Eli Manning completed 30 of his 40 pass attempts for 296 yards and a touchdown as he won Super Bowl MVP. He opened the game with nine consecutive completions, which is a record for the Super Bowl.

Manningham's clutch catch on the Giant's final drive.

Victor Cruz caught four passes, including a two-yard score in the first quarter, and Hakeem Nicks caught 10 balls for 109 yards.

Mario Manningham made the play of the game when he made a sideline catch for 38-yards on the Giant’s 88-yard game winning drive. The catch would eventually set up the game-winning touchdown by Ahmad Bradshaw.

The Patriots played a solid game throughout, but a few crucial drops hurt their chances to get the win. A critical drop by Wes Welker, who is usually a sure-handed receiver, forced the Patriots to punt the football when they could have been in field goal range. The drop also would have allowed the Patriots to run more time off of the clock.

This marks the second Super Bowl victory and second Super Bowl MVP for Manning.
