Dolphins, Titans get a meeting with Peyton Manning

The Miami Dolphins have wanted to schedule a meeting with the NFL’s biggest free agent Peyton Manning and it turns out they got their wish.

Manning will meet with Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. Mortensen also reports that Manning will meet with Titans head coach Mike Munchak.

The Dolphins meeting makes sense to me, but why the Titans have interest is beyond me. Yes, we’re talking about Peyton Manning, but you can’t just ignore Jake Locker. Locker showed promise in the games he played last season, plus he was their eighth overall pick just a season ago.

Why take a player with the eighth overall pick if you don’t have confidence in him being your starter?

Back to the Dolphins meeting, this is where I thought Manning would want to end up all along. He owns an off-season house in south Florida, his ex-teammate Reggie Wayne played at Miami and the Dolphins are a good team who need a quarterback.

It should be noted though, that Manning is meeting with the coaches at an undisclosed location. This gives the appearance that Manning isn’t as welcoming to Miami or Tennessee as he is to Arizona or Denver (teams that he’s already met with).

Either way, the two teams have to be happy that they have landed a meeting with the future HOF quarterback. The Seahawks reportedly tried aggressively to land a meeting, but could not.
