The New England Patriots already have a great duo of tight ends in Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, but today they added another member.
Yesterday the New York Giants waived tight end Jake Ballard with hopes of re-signing him and placing him on injured reserve, but that didn’t happen. Ballard’s agent, Blake Baratz, announced on Twitter that his client was claimed by the Patriots.
As I stated yesterday a “smart” football organization might claim@NYG_J_Ballard85 while he’s hurt to own his rights. He’s now a Patriot!
As Baratz pointed out to Star-Ledger reporter Mike Garafolo, the NFL can be a crazy business sometimes.
One day your meeting the President w your team, next day your released, next day ur on the team u beat in SB.
Ballard was not expecting to be claimed by another team. As he tweeted yesterday, “Thanks for love everyone but don’t worry, its a business, I’m on the road to recovery, and I believe I’ll be in a Giants uniform in ’13.”
He will be on injured reserve, in all likelihood, for the Patriots during the 2012 season and will return with the team in 2013.
