The Carolina Panthers have traded with Oakland for wide receiver Louis Murphy.
It’s uncertain at the moment what the Panthers gave up to get Murphy, but it isn’t expected to be much.
Murphy was a teammate of Cam Newton’s while Newton played at Florida. He’s worth a chance for the Panthers who don’t have much depth at the wide receiver position behind Steve Smith. Murphy can stretch the field for Carolina and most likely didn’t cost much to obtain him.
The Raiders can afford to get rid of Murphy as they have a lot of promising potential at the wide receiver position. Denarius Moore had a great rookie season, Jacoby Ford is a speedy young talent and even Darrius Heyward-Bey started showing signs of improvement last season.
Murphy has 90 receptions over the last three seasons. He had just 15 in 2011.
