The New England Patriots have released running back Joseph Addai right as training camp begins.
The 29-year-old running back wasn’t expected to make much of an impact on the Patriots in the first place, but the timing of this release is odd. Addai now marks the second former Colts player that the Patriots have signed and released this off-season (first was WR Anthony Gonzalez).
New England will move on with Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, and Danny Woodhead as their main running backs. They are expected to split carries.
