John Skelton to start at QB for Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals have named their starting quarterback.

John Skelton will start week one against the Seattle Seahawks. Coach Ken Whisenhunt didn’t say much about the decision other than, Skelton “gives us the best chance to win.”

The 2010 fifth-round draft pick was 5-2 as a starter in 2011. He had some nice games, including two 300-yard performances and a 297-yard performance, but he finished with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on the season.

Skelton beat out Kevin Kolb for the starting role. Kolb has not lived up to his potential. The Cardinals traded cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick in order to get Kolb and it has not paid off.
