Chris Cooley has played for the Washington Redskins the last eight seasons, but he announced today that he will no longer be with the team.
The 30-year-old tight end should be able to land with a team. He’s a reliable player who has posted over 700 receiving yards in five of his eight seasons. His best stretch was from 2004-2008.
His 2009 season was cut short due to injury, but he was able to pick things back up in 2010. Last season he only played in five games.
Cooley was due nearly $4 million this season as a backup tight end/fullback.
This leaves even less competition for starting tight end Fred Davis. Davis fell just four yards shy of 800 yards last season in 12 starts.
