The Seattle Seahawks haven’t named a starting quarterback for the regular season, but they have named a starting quarterback for their third preseason game.
Rookie Russell Wilson has impressed enough throughout his first two preseason games to earn himself the start in the third one. Free agent pickup Matt Flynn has started the first two games and has played the first half of both games.
Wilson has played well so far, granted he’s playing against backups in the preseason, throwing 67 percent for 279 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Add in his 92 rushing yards and rushing touchdown on eight carries and you’ve got some solid play.
If Wilson does indeed become the Seahawks regular season starter he will be the fifth rookie quarterback to start for a team on opening day this year (Weeden, Tannehill, RG3, Luck).
