The Pittsburgh Steelers made a surprising move on Friday when they activated running back Rashard Mendenhall and nose tackle Casey Hampton from the physically unable to perform list (PUP).
Mendenhall was expected to begin the season on the PUP list, which meant that he couldn’t return until at least week seven. Even then, some people doubted whether or not or would play at all this season. The Steelers running back tore his ACL on Jan. 1 in the regular-season finale.
Isaac Redman was expected to begin the season for Pittsburgh, but he injured himself in practice earlier this week.
Hampton is recovering from a few injuries involving his knee and elbow. He also was not expected to begin this season on the roster, many expected him to begin the season on the PUP list as well.
