Texans’ J.J. Watt suffers elbow injury

The Houston Texans had a breakout player last year with rookie defensive end J.J. Watt, but they may be without him in the preseason this year.

Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com is reporting that Watt left Thursday’s practice with an elbow injury. Coach Gary Kubiak spoke about the injury.

“J.J.’s got elbow issue that we’ve obviously got to evaluate here at lunch time and see what happens,” Kubiak said. “I’m trying to smile. I’m concerned until we go find out what’s going on. But you know, I don’t want to say nothing. It’s his elbow, we’re gonna take a look at it. Hopefully, everything will be OK.”

Watt had 56 tackles and 5.5 sacks during the regular season. He then added 3.5 sacks and a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown in the two post-season games.
