Guardiola stirred and Manchester City won: “I am a genius”

Coach explained, with some humor, the reasons for betting on Mahrez and Grealish.

Manchester City returned, this Thursday, to victories, to visit and defeat Chelsea, by 1-0, in a match that was only resolved at 63 minutes, due to a double change promoted by Pep Guardiola … three minutes before the winning goal.

Jack Grealish (who replaced Bernardo Silva) assisted Riyad Mahrez’s goal (who replaced Phil Foden), and after the final whistle, at Stamford Bridge, the manager of the defending English champions explained what he was looking for, with some humor in between.

“The first half was sloppy. We didn’t create much, our pressure was very weak, we were not well organized. In the second half, especially with Manuel [Akanji] and Rico [Lewis] we were better,” he said, quoted by Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

“I’m a genius, because after the game with Everton [a one-ball draw], I was asked why I didn’t make any substitutions until the 81st minute. Today, I thought about it, and I made some. We could lose here, but now we are five points behind [Arsenal],” he added.
